Research, Teaching, Practice, Clinical (RTPC) and Librarian non-tenure-track adjunct, part-time, and full-time faculty at USC just won our historic union election with a resounding 70% “Yes” vote! As of June 10th, 2026, our union, United Faculty-UAW, is officially certified by the regional office of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Rather than respect our decisive democratic vote, the USC administration is attempting to avoid their legal obligation to bargain with us. They have chosen to challenge the basis of our election to the federal NLRB, whose majority was appointed by President Trump and has consistently demonstrated an anti-worker/anti-union agenda. But we will not be deterred. We plan to continue organizing until we win a fair union contract.
As we prepare for bargaining, a crucial next step is to gather workplace needs and priorities from faculty members in every school and title across USC. By filling out this survey, we are helping shape an inclusive agenda for our negotiations that reflects our diverse needs. We are also reiterating to the USC administration that we urge them to respect our vote and bargain with us. Together we have power – let’s use it to build a stronger USC!
